Since 2009 the Sunset Campout has been held in historic Belden Town on the Feather River in Plumas county. The location is one of the most unique things about the event. Unlike most festival sites, the whole of the funky old gold rush resort town is utilized for the event. Belden is equipped with a saloon, restaurant and general store, showers, bathrooms, a lodge and several cabins and buildings, and a handful of year-round residents who add to the fabric of the place - and definitely have a story or two.
Belden is also a hub intersecting the famous Pacific Crest Trail, so it's not unusual for intrepid hikers to be seen with large packs roaming through town during the course of the weekend to restock on supplies. Its flanked by river on one side, and railroad tracks on the other, and the sound of the trains going by adds depth to the audio landscape. To reach the venue, follow highway 70 deep into the beautiful feather river canyon, from either direction its 30 miles of stunning winding country road, through intermittent old-timey outposts with no cell phone service and no gas stations... a real piece of northern California Sierra history and natural beauty.
But to us Belden has become our home - and when we cross over the red bridge into the one-road town, we leave the world behind, and the magic of the Sunset Campout begins.

The Sunset Stage is the central dance floor where the late-night action at Belden takes place.
Our lighting crew, Radiant Atmospheres, provides spectacular lasers and lights all night. The party lasts from dusk until well beyond dawn, and before you know it, it's 11 am and time to hit the beach again!
The Beach Stage opens daily at noon.
Enjoy the music during the day either from the dancefloor or floating on the Feather River until the sun goes down. Later in the evening, experience a diverse selection of dance music that continues until sunrise. Be sure to catch the stunning projections on Belden Bridge at night!
Get down and dirty with the true essence of Belden in the Saloon... with DJs on Thursday and Sunday nights, its like a psychedelic wild west bar. Watch for specialty activities on Friday and Saturday nights. Grab yourself a cocktail and settle in. The Saloon closes at 2am nightly, and is the only place on site that is 21+.
This magically created zone is activated at dusk and goes til late night. Chillout vibes, ambient tunes and cushiony pillow domes are the name of the game. Created by Sparkles Positron and the Existential Action Team - this area also hosts the Tea Temple for late night tea ceremonies and intimate esoteric connections with fellow Sunsetters.
This space of beauty created by Living Fae holds daily workshops, yoga, healing and meditation, with offerings starting in the morning and running through late afternoon. Though the workshops usually end by the early evening, this is always a sacred space to relax and step into the moment.
Located in the cabin next to the Faerie Ring, the spa offers massage & body work on Friday and Saturday evenings. Hosted by Lois Langevin King, the area has grown into a transformational hub, designed to keep you refreshed and rejuvenated - so you can get back to dancing your weekend away!
Bringing your littles? We have just the place. Tucked away on the lawn behind the restaurant, our family-friendly zone is a little oasis of calm to bring your kids to. Open each weekend day 11 - 5, this area hosts kids activities, a paddling pool and shady quite grassy lawn to picnic on and cool off with your kiddos.
Located in the center of town outside the Saloon, you can't miss our vendor village. Fanciful jewelry, vintage clothing and plenty of food choices means this zone has everything you might have forgotten or a treasure you might need to make your Belden experience that much better.
